Week 56 - 五十六週 - October 27, 2025 - 龜山 - Guishan

 大家好！

Highlights:

     -It was raining non stop the entire week (talk about Noahs Ark)

     -Interviews!

     -We went door knocking! A lady gave us cake and we also cried that day (also 被罵的感覺）(The feeling of having been scolded)

     -Fell on my bike on the way home that same day

     -Best and hardest week of the mission!

     -Nick got baptized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Eternal families are real and eternal joy is real and despite everything that was hard this week it was all okay in the end :)

This week I learned more about what it means to be a participant in the plan of salvation!

Act 2

37 ¶ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

I usually read this scripture in context of the conversion of our friends, but this week I had an experience where I myself was pricked in my heart.

During interviews, President basically told me that all of my past companions had a problem with confidence. This felt like a stab to the heart. I have loved and had great relationships with all my companions! How could this happen?

We had a conversation about how to truly find joy in the success of others and help them be more important than yourself. It hurt to think that I was failing at keeping the greatest commandment.

Applying this feedback is what it feels like to repent and live the doctrine of Christ. If I am not willing to change and be different in this way, then how can I ask anyone else to?

It's fun and exciting to use Christ's Atonement and have a testimony of the Savior :) This is what it means to be an active participator in the Plan of Salvation!

Week 55 - 五十五週 - October 20, 2025 - 龜山 - Guishan

 大家好！

Highlights:

     -Exchanges with 莊姐妹 (Sister Zhuang)! We went about doing good it was so fun! (We were in the MTC together:))

     -Exchanges in 三重 (Sanchong) with Sister Price! I got some crazy humbling feedback that has caused me to the enter the deep well of self reflection

     -Exchanges with Sister Ingram! We helped a dad find his son (stress) it was so cool! Sister Ingram makes it easy to follow the promptings of the spirit :)

     -Blitzed 新竹 (Xinzhu) it was really fun!

     -Had a fantastic mission devotional about obedience>

     -蘇彥安 (Su Yan An) got baptized!! I only taught him once because we gave him to the Elders but it was still so happy :)

     -We have a friend who got in a car accident a couple weeks ago who came to church! It was such an inspiring act of faith! Go Linda!

     -My companions sister named her son LeGrand (this is the name of our DL so we think its pretty funny)

The conclusion I came to this week is that I need to purify my motives. 

My companion showed me song about Charity that answered a lot of my questions. The line that stands out to me the most is: 

"I am nothing--Jesus, reduce me to love"

Reduce me to love! If we were all 'reduced to love', just image how fantastic that would be. 

Moroni 7:

47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.

When missionary work isn't going well, I have the tendency to squeeze too hard--to want to work harder, be more obedient, have better Chinese etc. But this is not pure charity. It is not. We do not have to do more than the Lord has asked. 

I decided that I must resist the natural man and be 'reduced to love'. Its not easy, but it is that simple. This is a matter of salvation. 

As my good friend C.S Lewis puts it: "No half-measures will do" (Mere Christianity)

Week 54 - 五十四週 - October 13, 2025 - 龜山 - Guishan

 大家好！

Highlights:

     -Zone conference!!! I got to sing a song with Sister Linford and Sister Lewis played the piano for us :) Super 感動 (Gandong, moving)

     -President sent me a humbling email that inspired me to be better

     -Exchange with Sister Bingham! 

     -Exchange with Sister Lewis! It was her last exchange and we got bing:)

     -Went on a blitz to 竹北 (Zhubei)! It was so weird to walk through that train station again. That was my first area in Taiwan!

     -Biffed it on my bike on one of the exchanges :(

     -We saw some people walking their pet pigs around

     -GENERAL CONFERENCE

     -Had to pass one of our Baptismal date friends away to 桃園 (Taoyuan)

     -Got to call my brother! Shoutout to Elder Wardle the greatest and most diligent missionary to have lived

I have recently been pondering on the Christlike attribute of meekness.

"With perfect temperance and unmatched meekness, He did not think of Himself" (Elder Ulisses Soares Oct 2025)

I always find myself back here. It is a constant battle against the natural man to choose to be humble, temperant and meek. To think of others instead of myself.

Thinking of the Saviors example is inspiring. In every situation, he makes the choice that goes against the natural man. (See Matt 4)

He is intentional with His exercising of agency and always chooses to look out. Let us go, and do likewise!

Week 53 - 五十三週 - October 6, 2025 - 龜山 Guishan

 大家好！

Highlights:

     -New district new comp 

     -Our members put one of our friends on BD for us 

     -A guy walked all the way up a hill to set up with us (faith)

     -Cried in MLC it was fantastic! Got to see so many people that I love!

     -Got told the entire plot of Jane Eyre

     -My comp is going to let me read her copy of Mere Christianity (I am so unbelievably excited best P day ever)

Isaiah 55:6

6 ¶ Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

I have been pondering recently why church is important to me and this scripture really sums it up!

Another thought:

️We become the average of the 5 people we associate with the most.️

How do we associate with the Savior?

By coming to church! 

Church is the vehicle by which we can spend time with the Savior. It is through sacred ordinances, such as the sacrament that we truly get to spend time with Him. (See Luke 24: 13-32)

We cannot take the sacrament alone! Christ created church as a place to perform sacred ordinances that allow us to be where He is. We must come to church.

I hope the person I spend the most time with is my Savior because I want to become like Him. We must do all that we can to seek Him, be where He is and do what He did. 

John 17:3

3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Mosiah 5:13

13 For how knoweth a man the master whom he has not served, and who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?

We must seek the Lord while He is near. Learn who He is. Go where He is. Go to church :) 

This is life eternal!!!!!! I'm so grateful I get to be a steward for the eternal life of the people of Taiwan :)
